HISTORY
Iota Omicron Omega Chapter was founded on December 16, 1972. Like a beautiful ivy vine the origins of Alpha Nu Chapter and Iota Omicron Omega Chapter are lovingly intertwined. The first Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., chapter in the Fresno area was Alpha Nu Chapter. Alpha Nu was chartered in 1959 and initiated both graduate members and undergraduate students. Initially the chapter was not based on a college campus. The change came in 1972 with the chartering of Iota Omicron Omega Chapter. Alpha Nu Chapter was moved to the campus of California State University, Fresno and Iota Omicron Omega was established in the Fresno area for graduate members or Alumnae.
Iota Omicron Omega has a long history of service to the Fresno and San Joaquin Valley communities. Since 1972, Iota Omicron Omega chapter is committed to working to uplift the community and partnering with other community based organizations to serve all mankind.
